My Parents never called me

When my family first moved into the house I grew up in, I was only a little kid. Almost immediately, something strange started happening. I'd be sitting in my room playing with Legos or watching TV when I'd clearly hear one of my parents call my name from the other end of the house. It wasn't muffled or distant either, it sounded exactly like my dad or my mom speaking in their normal voice. Every single time, I'd stop what I was doing and walk across the house to see what they wanted. Every single time, they'd look at me completely confused and tell me they hadn't called for me. It happened so often that I genuinely believed they were messing with me just to get a reaction.

One night everything changed. I heard my dad call my name from my parents' bedroom, so I walked down the hallway like I always did. As soon as I stepped into the doorway, I saw both of my parents sitting on the bed talking to each other. Before I could even ask why they called me, I heard my mom's voice call my name again, except this time it came from the living room on the opposite side of the house. I froze. My parents were both directly in front of me, yet I had just heard my mom's voice from somewhere she physically couldn't be. That was the exact moment I realized no one had been playing a joke on me. Whatever had been calling my name all those years wasn't either of my parents.

I kept the whole thing to myself for years because I assumed there had to be a logical explanation. Then my brother was diagnosed with partial narcolepsy, and I learned that auditory hallucinations can sometimes be one of the symptoms. For a while I convinced myself that maybe I had the same condition, so I went through the testing. Everything came back completely normal. No sleep disorder, no neurological problems, nothing. I'm an adult now and I don't live in that house anymore, but every now and then I'll stay there when I visit family. Almost every visit, usually late at night, I'll hear someone softly call my name from another room. I don't answer anymore, and I definitely don't go looking for whoever, or whatever, is calling.
